Job summary
A leading international law firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Risk Lawyer to lead sanctions work within the Risk team. The ideal candidate will have 6 - 10 years of experience and a strong background in sanctions law. This role offers a hybrid working model with a minimum of three days in the office, focusing on advising, compliance, and training within the firm.
Qualifications
- 6 - 10 years PQE with significant sanctions experience.
- Experience in an international law firm or in-house legal team.
- Strong fee earning experience.
Responsibilities
- Advise on all sanctions-related matters affecting the firm.
- Ensure compliance with sanctions by the firm and staff.
- Liaise with banks and train fee earners on sanctions.

A Senior Risk Lawyer with significant sanctions knowledge, to lead the sanctions work in the Risk team.
This is a legal role, supporting the Risk & Compliance Partner, the Head of Legal Risk, and the General Counsel and COLP.
In this role you will be inter alia:
- Advising on all sanctions related matters affecting the firm
- Ensuring sanctions compliance by the firm and its partners and staff, including identifying any clients and/or matters impacted by new sanctions, assessing the impact of the sanctions,
- Liaising with banks, as well as training fee earners on sanctions
An England & Wales qualified lawyer with 6 - 10pqe, you will have at least three years' sanctions experience in an international firm, ideally as part of an in-house legal team as well as strong fee earning experience.
With a good understanding of how law firms operate, you will have solid knowledge of sanctions law and practice along with financial crime experience
You will be looking to work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 3 days in the office.
