ND Operations Manager

  • Salary: Circa £40,000
  • Location: Remote (with occasional travel to Cheltenham and Deal once a quarter)
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Start Date: ASAP
About the Role

We are looking for a proactive, people‑centred, and highly organised ND Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery of RTN's ND Assessment Academy. This is a key leadership role within a fast‑growing neurodevelopmental service that supports children, young people, and adults through high‑quality autism and ADHD assessments.

The ND Operations Manager will provide day‑to‑day operational leadership to a team of 30+ Neurodevelopmental Assessors, Academy Mentors, and Team Leaders. You will bring structure, clarity, and cohesion to a department made up of staff who are often early in their careers, helping them grow in confidence and competence while ensuring that operational processes run smoothly and efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone with strong people‑management experience, emotional intelligence, and a talent for building positive, collaborative working environments. If you enjoy problem‑solving, supporting staff, improving systems, and helping teams thrive, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
  • Lead day‑to‑day operations of the Academy, ensuring smooth, consistent workflows.
  • Oversee caseload distribution, timelines, documentation standards, and operational outputs.
  • Develop and refine operational systems to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality.
  • Maintain accurate departmental processes, procedures, and internal records.
  • Identify operational issues early and proactively implement solutions.
People Management
  • Line manage 30+ ND Assessors, Mentors, and Team Leaders, providing clear guidance and structured support.
  • Manage early‑career staff with confidence, offering coaching, stability, and professional development.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and personalised development plans.
  • Foster a supportive, psychologically safe work environment grounded in RTN's core values: Nurture, Respect, and Transformation.
  • Navigate interpersonal dynamics across a large and growing team, ensuring trust, professionalism, and cohesion.
  • Provide conflict management and mediation where needed, supporting healthy team relationships.
Performance & Quality Oversight
  • Produce clear performance reports highlighting strengths, development areas, and progress.
  • Monitor documentation quality, workflow compliance, and operational standards.
  • Ensure consistent, constructive, and actionable feedback is given across the team.
  • Communicate key updates, risks, and insights to senior leadership.
Training & Development Coordination
  • Coordinate operational onboarding, induction pathways, and ongoing procedural training.
  • Maintain and update internal training materials relating to systems and processes.
  • Support mentors in delivering group training sessions and team learning workshops.
  • Ensure new staff are fully equipped to work to RTN's standards.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with the clinical team to ensure operational processes support clinical quality.
  • Partner with the Operations Director on scaling and developing the Academy as the service grows.
  • Act as the central communication point for the Academy, ensuring strong cross‑departmental cohesion.
  • Maintain awareness of relational dynamics across the department and intervene early when needed.
About You
Essential
  • Experience managing a large team (30+ staff) in a fast‑paced operational environment
  • Experience in healthcare, neurodevelopment, mental health, education, or social care settings.
  • Strong background in performance management, quality oversight, or workflow optimisation.
  • Experience supporting early‑career staff or teams that require structured development.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and ability to navigate interpersonal dynamics.
  • Skilled in conflict management and mediation.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence giving feedback.
  • Highly organised with strong planning skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working in people‑focused settings such as social care, education, youth services, support work, etc.
Desirable
  • Experience delivering onboarding, training, or team development.
  • Training or qualifications in coaching, supervision, or leadership.
  • Experience with digital learning or workflow platforms.
Company Benefits
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Company pension
  • Fully remote working
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Supportive, values‑led culture centred around Nurture, Respect, and Transformation
  • Opportunities to contribute to service development and long‑term organisational growth
