Job summary
A leading university in the UK is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to coordinate radiation safety and lead on health and safety practices. The role requires a degree or equivalent experience, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of health and safety management. You will manage external advisers and deliver training as needed. This position offers a competitive salary in Glasgow, and formal interviews will take place on 28 October 2025.

Salary Range: £37,694 - £46,049 FTE: 1 (35 hours/week)
Contract Type: Open Contract
End Date: 07/10/2025
- Co-ordinate radiation safety (ionising and non-ionising radiation) for the University.
- Lead on general health and safety, including the provision of competent advice and performance monitoring.
- Lead on the implementation of the radiation safety policy, maintain up-to-date guidance, manage the work of the external Radiation Protection Adviser, maintain the University\'s environmental permits and consents, and registrations issued by the HSE.
- Arrange and deliver training and advice (both radiation and general health and safety) as required.
- Educated to degree level or having equivalent relevant experience.
- Sound understanding of general health and safety management and radiation safety principles gained through practical application in a relevant setting.
- Excellent communicator and good IT skills.
- It is envisaged that you will work towards an appropriate radiation protection qualification and general health and safety qualification if you do not already hold one.
