We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join our progressive and dynamic Biochemistry team. The candidate must be capable of dealing with the fast pace and high throughput of the department, contributing to the analysis of >5000 samples a day, aided by the state of the art APTIO track and Siemens Atellica. They must also be flexible, able to work across our three laboratory sites:
The successful post-holder will benefit from periodic rotation into our Special Chemistry section, developing their skills in manual techniques such as HPLC, ICP-MS and electrophoresis. We are also the providers of stone analysis for South Wales.
As a department, staff development and training is a top priority. The department has full UKAS accreditation and is an approved IBMS training laboratory. There are also plenty of opportunities for CPD, this includes:
The successful applicant must be HCPC registered, hold an IBMS specialist portfolio*, have excellent interpersonal and time-management skills, be committed to service excellence.
*AFC annex 21 may be considered for any suitably experienced band 5 staff without a specialist portfolio (or logbook). This will need to be completed within a finite maximum of two years from the appointment.
