Psychology Graduate - Mental Health Assistant - Aylesbury

Aylesbury | Start Date: October 2025

Are you a recent or soon-to-be Psychology or Criminology graduate with ambitions to become an Educational Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or Mental Health Support Worker?

Do you want to gain hands-on experience supporting children with special educational needs and mental health challenges?

We are currently working with a forward-thinking primary school in Aylesbury that is seeking passionate and motivated graduates to join their team as Mental Health Assistants from October 2025.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a school environment that supports children with a range of needs, including SEMH difficulties, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and behavioural challenges.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to help students achieve both academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with SEMH needs, ASD, and behavioural challenges within the school setting.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement strategies that aid academic and emotional development.
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to individualised support plans as directed.
What We're Looking For
  • A degree (or expected degree) in Psychology or Criminology
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs
  • A commitment to working full-time for at least 12 months
  • Consistency is key for these students
  • Any prior experience working with children (formally or informally) is beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, and a proactive mindset
