Job summary
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director / Principal Engineer for their Transmission & Distribution team, focusing on Overhead Lines (OHL) Design. The role involves leading OHL design projects up to 400kV, managing technical delivery, and engaging with clients on significant energy infrastructure projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in engineering, be ideally Chartered, and have experience with transmission system operators. Flexible working options are available.

Associate Director / Principal Engineer – Overhead Lines (OHL)
Location : UK Wide, flexible working, no set days in office.
Salary : Competitive + Car Allowance
A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Director / Principal Engineer to join its Transmission & Distribution team with a specific focus on OHL Design. This role offers the opportunity to work on major UK energy infrastructure projects.
- Lead and deliver overhead line design projects up to 400kV, including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, sag‑tension calculations, clearance reports and more.
- Provide technical expertise in bids, proposals, and client meetings.
- Manage project scope, technical delivery, and client engagement.
- Conduct feasibility studies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Review engineering deliverables and perform quality checks.
- Degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Ideally Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised institution (e.g., IET).
- Experience delivering projects for transmission system operators.
- Overhead line engineering experience up to 400kV.
- LCDAE & CDAE certifications advantageous.
- Strong communication skills.
