Overview

A Finance Analyst with retail and financial modelling experience will be responsible for analysing retail performance data, developing complex financial models for forecasting and decision support, and providing strategic financial insights to management

Client Details

Finance Analyst required for an established and highly visited Charity in Surrey. Please note this is a 6 month interim vacancy.

Description
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Manage end-to-end forecasting, budgeting, and annual financial planning processes for the retail business unit.
  • Financial Modelling: Design, build, and maintain complex financial models (e.g., for valuation, new initiatives, M&A, capital projects) to evaluate costs, project profits, and assess risk.
  • Performance Analysis: Produce timely and detailed analysis on sales, costs, and overall business performance, including variance analysis (comparing actuals to budget/forecast) and identifying trends.
  • Strategic Insight & Recommendation: Interpret financial and non-financial data to provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management for improving business performance, optimizing resource allocation, and identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., commercial, operations, marketing) to align financial goals, gather data, and ensure financial models reflect overall business objectives.
  • Reporting & Presentation: Prepare and present clear, concise financial reports, dashboards, and presentations to stakeholders, translating complex financial data into easily understandable information for non‑financial audiences.
  • Market & Industry Analysis: Monitor retail market trends, economic indicators, and competitor performance to incorporate into financial models and strategic planning.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and drive improvements in financial processes and reporting tools, potentially through the use of automation or new software, to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Profile
  • ACA, CIMA or ACCA qualified accountant
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Financial Analyst, ideally with specific experience in the retail or FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) sector.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced Excel proficiency is essential, with experience in building and maintaining complex financial models.
