About this opportunity

This is your chance to bring your experience of cloud computing and product ownership to a bigger stage, to directly play a role in shaping and delivering the technologies that will underpin our Bank of the Future, helping to shape the world of finance for good.

The Cloud team is on the journey to create the next generation technical platform for Lloyds Banking Group that will be at the core of one of the UK's biggest financial service transformations!

We're seeking highly experienced, motivated, and innovative Product Owners to play a pivotal role in leading and shaping the technical direction of our Cloud Native Product Teams. As a key enabler, the Cloud Native Lab develops and executes on roadmaps covering a range of Google Cloud and Azure products, including serverless, container, compute, service mesh, API management, networking and data technologies.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an ambitious team with the purpose of driving our tech modernisation agenda and enable the Group to accelerate and become the biggest Fintech in the UK.

The ideal applicant will have a passion for Cloud Technology and dedication to delivering scalable, resilient, high-quality, solutions.

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Be a self-motivated and proactive individual who has an eye on the bigger picture but can apply laser focus to ensure delivery.
  • Have a solid sense of ownership and integrity who enjoys working and be a great collaborator across internal, external, and 3rd party teams.
  • Listen, influence, challenge, build trust and consensus from both your team and customers alike, whilst acting as the voice of the customer
  • Have a collaborative, approachable and friendly style, establishing a culture of continuous improvement, driving innovation through trust and empowerment of their team.
  • Stay calm & resilient under pressure and ensure the team always do the right thing by the customer, whilst appreciating things won’t always go right first time and are not afraid to challenge the ‘norm’.
  • A great multi-tasker, switching between different activities and responsibilities throughout your day.
  • Liaise and collaborate with different levels of colleagues up to exec level to deliver a best-in-class cloud platform.
  • Be comfortable in the mentoring and development of the team.

What you’ll need:

  • A strong background in technical delivery of either Software Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering related products, based on public cloud technologies.
  • Experience of shaping Product Vision & building Product Roadmaps working closely with customers to define, then multiple parties to communicate content and benefit.
  • Experience shaping a technical design for a product and able to apply your expert knowledge and background to ensure no gaps in overall Product Development.
  • Expert knowledge in building and managing comprehensive Product Backlogs using JIRA including defining User Stories and Acceptance Criteria.
  • Expertise in prioritisation, co-ordinating and driving delivery of a backlog using Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
  • Proven ability to collaborate with other parties with respect to understanding and managing dependencies, including definition, prioritisation and tracking the work to successful conclusion.
  • Experience of delivery and operating of applications/systems within an enterprise production setting, together with demonstrable proficiency in being able to navigate change governance, risk and financial management processes.
  • Has excellent communication skills for interaction with both our customers and the many Product teams of highly skilled engineers.
  • Ability to work with multiple 3rd Party Vendors, building effective, partnering relationships.

And any experience of these would be really useful:

  • Delivering and running solutions that utilise Public Cloud related products from Google and/or Azure.
  • Working with Cloud Service Providers, influencing their own product roadmaps.
  • Container orchestration (Kubernetes); Networking technologies; Service Mesh; Databases and data storage; API Management; Compute offerings.
  • CI/CD technologies, e.g. Harness; Jira and Jira Align; Version control software, e.g. GitHub
  • An understanding of cloud security best practises and principles
  • Google Cloud and/or Azure Intermediate/Advanced level certifications.
