Our client delivers specialist engineering services to the UK’s transport network across aviation, rail, and adjacent markets. Their vision is to be the leading provider of essential infrastructure services in the UK transport sector.

We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Defence and Strategic projects division in Dover. The successful candidate will lead and manage the commercial aspects of key projects within Defence and Strategic markets.

• Lead and manage complex civil engineering projects from initiation to completion.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements, especially those specific to Defence and Strategic sectors.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors.
• Identify and mitigate risks to meet project objectives.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee procurement processes and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and update senior management and stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for project delivery and efficiency.
• Require excellent NEC knowledge, good communication and written skills.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.
• Strong understanding of construction and contract law.
• Experience in day-to-day commercial administration of frameworks.
• Preparation and issuance of sub-contract orders.
• Negotiating payment schedules with sub-contractors.
• Managing commercial change control for projects under the framework.
• Preparing monthly applications to clients.
• Pricing individual jobs based on contract rates.
• Excellent negotiation skills and stakeholder management abilities.
