Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to manage a wide portfolio of infrastructure projects? Why not join our vibrant and Dynamic Capital Projects Team in Estates and Building Services to deliver major works for the betterment of Leicester and its residents.
You'll join a small, dedicated team of 14 like-minded professionals including Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Architects, and support staff who punch above our weight in terms of delivering large infrastructure projects across multiple sectors.
You'll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs. However, on occasion you'll be required to travel across the city to undertake site visits. This is a full time, permanent position working 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Typical working hours are 8.30am-5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am-4.30pm on a Friday.
Not one day will be the same in this varied role. It's not surprising that within this role your managerial expertise will be put to the test when developing, supporting, and motivating a team of up to 2 direct staff including Quantity Surveyor(s) & Cost Monitoring Officer. In addition, you'll lead on the development of our Project Quantity Surveyors, acting as an active mentor through both professional accreditation and experience.
Within this leadership role, you'll work amongst your team to set various budgets and give advice in cost estimation and planning for a wide portfolio of infrastructure projects across the Culture, Education, Tourism, Housing, Corporate, and Sports and Leisure sectors. Working with contractors you'll prepare contract documents and review tender documentation. As well as, reviewing applications that come in for payments, processing payment notices and authorising invoices.
You'll work closely with Internal Project Managers, Architects and Engineers, as well as internal and external clients. Building good working relationships with interdepartmental teams such as, Finance, Procurement and Legal. You'll attend various meetings including, but not limited to, Design Team Meetings, Progress Meetings and Board Meetings.
You’ll be an experienced, MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor or MRICS Senior Surveyor who has previously worked in a senior role in Quantity Surveying in a construction cost and commercial team environment managing major capital projects with a budget of £250k+. With extensive knowledge of different forms of contracts, including JCT and NEC and experience of managing a programme of projects simultaneously, you'll demonstrate knowledge, flexibility, adaptability and will thrive under the pressure of managing multiple projects concurrently.
Your excellent interpersonal and communication skill will play a key role in influencing decision making with stakeholders and third parties. Your passion and tenacity will shine through as you watch your projects through from inception to completion. As a senior member of staff, you'll present professionally and as a good role model, showcasing organisation and initiative to prioritise tasks well under pressure through one's motivation.
You must have the ability to visit sites across the city as part of your work pattern, whether this be by use of your own vehicle or public transport.
