Anexciting opportunity has arisen to join the Renal Department as a ClericalOfficer within the Abdominal Medicine & Surgery CSU at Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust. This is a part-time position (15 hours per week),offering flexibility for the successful candidate.

Inthis role, you will support a busy department by carrying out a wide range ofclerical tasks, including booking appointments, handling documentation, datainput, managing correspondence, and assisting with patient enquiries. Youwill need to be highly organised, computer literate, and capable of workingindependently and within a team.

Thesuccessful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, apositive approach to work, and a commitment to providing high-qualitypatient-focused support. Previous experience in a similar role or withhospital systems is desirable but not essential, as training will beprovided.

Main duties of the job

Thesuccessful candidate will:

Perform clerical and receptionduties within the Renal department

Maintain accurate patient recordsusing electronic systems

Liaise with internal departmentsand external stakeholders

Book appointments and processreferrals in line with Trust policy

Support patients and visitorsprofessionally and sensitively

Contribute to a safe and efficientworking environment

Provide administrative cover acrossthe team where needed

Job responsibilities

Thepost holder will provide clerical and administrative support to thedepartment, including booking appointments, maintaining patient records,dealing with correspondence, processing referrals, and handling telephone andface-to-face enquiries. They will input and retrieve information usingpatient administration systems, prepare and file documents, and ensuredocumentation is available for clinics. Duties also include supporting theteam by responding to queries, managing post, ordering supplies, and maintainingconfidentiality in line with Trust policies. The role requires excellentcommunication, accuracy, IT skills, flexibility, and the ability to workindependently and as part of a team. The post holder may work across sites tomeet service needs.

  • Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements, including:
  • Retrieving and transporting documentation across Trust sites
  • Working at a VDU for prolonged periods
Qualifications
  • Literate and numerate
  • NVQ2 in Customer Care or equivalent experience
  • GCSE grade C or equivalent OR ability to pass Trust's Basic Literacy and Numeracy test
  • Willingness to undertake training on relevant systems and procedures
  • ECDL or equivalent IT qualification.
Experience
