Job summary

London Hire Community Services is seeking a Passenger Assistant (Zero-hours) in Suffolk to help with safe, comfortable transport for service users who cannot access public transport. Work involves assisting with boarding, lifting equipment, and monitoring passenger welfare while in transit.

You will work as part of a small team, supporting drivers and ensuring safety protocols are followed. This role requires a calm, patient demeanor, good communication, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates understanding of disabilities.
• Deliver service with patient and level-headed attitude.
• Able to work in a team or independently with initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Great attention to detail and ability to complete records clearly.

Responsibilities

• Assist the driver wherever possible to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
• Assist passengers with boarding/disembarking, including those with disabilities, per safety requirements.
• Monitor and supervise passengers during transit and welfare while on board.
• Assist in operating the passenger lift or other equipment as required.
• Ensure wheelchairs are securely located and belts fitted.
• Secure wheelchair passengers with full lap/diagonal belts or securing equipment.
• Communicate with passengers in a patient, informative manner.
• Report late running and incidents per depot processes.
• Keep the allocated vehicle secure while in use.
• Use communication equipment correctly to ensure safe, smooth operation.
