Job summary

Elmbridge Borough Council’s Community Transport team is seeking a Passenger Assistant (0.6 FTE) to support children, young people and adults with additional needs to travel safely to education settings and community activities. The role involves assisting passengers, fitting equipment, and providing reassurance during journeys.

The ideal candidate enjoys helping others, is patient and reliable, and is willing to undertake Passenger Assistant and First Aid training.

Qualifications

• Patient, caring and dependable.
• Able to work confidently with drivers and transport colleagues.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Able to remain calm in various situations.
• Willing to undertake Passenger Assistant and First Aid training.
• Comfortable assisting passengers with mobility needs, including wheelchairs and equipment.
• Flexible to work split shifts 7:00–18:00, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Help passengers board and alight safely with drivers.
• Ensure specialist equipment and seatbelts are secured.
• Provide reassurance and support during journeys.
