Job summary

Rotherwood is recruiting a Youth Support Worker in Failsworth, Oldham, to provide tailored 1:1 support to young people aged 16-18 within a new supported accommodation service. The role focuses on promoting independence, wellbeing and personal development in a safe, supportive environment.

You will build positive relationships, encourage engagement in education, employment and training, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Previous support work, care or youth-based experience.
• Enhanced DBS covering both Adults and Children (or willingness to obtain one).
• Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to young people aged 16-18.
• Build positive, professional and trusting relationships.
• Support young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health needs.
• Encourage independence and daily living skills.
• Promote engagement with education, employment and training.
• Support young people to access community activities and appointments.
• Maintain accurate records, daily notes and incident reports.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and risk management plans.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes.
