Job summary

Rotherwood Cares is recruiting dedicated Support Workers for a brand-new residential service in Oldham, supporting young people aged 16-18. The role starts on a flexible temporary/ad-hoc basis with potential to go permanent as the home develops.

You will work to build relationships, promote independence and ensure safety for young people who may have trauma or mental health needs. Shifts are flexible (days and waking nights), with pay at £12.71 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children/young people or adults with complex needs.
  • Active study in Health & Social Care, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Youth Work or related field welcome.
  • A caring, resilient and professional approach required.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people who may have experienced trauma and require person-centred support.
  • Build positive relationships, promote independence, and ensure safety and wellbeing.
  • Support them to achieve positive outcomes through consistent care.

Rotherwood Cares is recruiting on behalf of our client for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers to join a brand-new residential service supporting young people aged 16-18.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service from the beginning, initially working on a flexible temporary/ad-hoc basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position as the home develops.

About The Role

You will be supporting young people who may have experienced trauma and require consistent, person-centred support. Some of the young people may present with:

  • Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
  • Mental health needs
  • ADHD
  • Emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Challenging behaviours
  • Absconding risks

Your role will involve building positive relationships, promoting independence, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the young people, and supporting them to achieve positive outcomes.

Pay Rate

£12.71 per hour

What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience supporting children, young people or adults with complex needs, mental health, learning disabilities or challenging behaviours.
  • OR students currently studying Health & Social Care, Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Youth Work or a related subject who are looking for part-time or full-time experience alongside their studies.
  • A caring, resilient and professional approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Essential Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS (Child and Adult Workforce) on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Previous support or care experience is preferred.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
