Job summary

Rotherwood is seeking a Youth Support Worker to provide 1:1 and home-based support to young people aged 16–18 in a safe, supportive, trauma-informed setting. You will build trust, promote independence and help develop life skills.

Shifts include Day 08:00–20:00, Evening 17:00–22:00 and Waking Night 20:00–08:00, with no sleep-ins. You will collaborate with social workers and education providers while safeguarding and promoting welfare at all times.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals.
  • Understanding of safeguarding/child protection procedures.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviour or mental health difficulties is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality 1:1 support to young people aged 16–18 in a supported accommodation setting.
  • Build positive, professional relationships based on trust, consistency and respect.
  • Support emotional wellbeing, mental health and personal development.
  • Deliver 1:1 sessions and key working responsibilities.
  • Promote independence with daily living skills (cooking, budgeting, cleaning, etc.).
  • Support access to education, training, employment and community activities.
  • Encourage healthy lifestyle choices and safeguarding at all times.
  • Work with social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and external agencies.
