Job summary

Building Recruitment Co Ltd is seeking a dedicated Youth Support Officer in Trowbridge to join a supported housing team and assist 16–25-year-olds who are homeless or at risk. You will provide housing-related and transition support to help build confidence and independent living skills.

Hours are full-time on a 2-week rota with 2 sleep-ins; the role is temp to perm with salary £13.83 per hour plus holiday pay.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting vulnerable people or young people.
• Ability to build positive relationships and provide practical support.
• Experience completing risk assessments and support plans.
• Experience managing a caseload and keeping accurate records.
• Understanding safeguarding and professional boundaries.
• Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible and positive approach with an interest in helping young people develop.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support to young people experiencing homelessness or other challenges.
• Build positive relationships and encourage independence.
• Complete assessments, support plans, risk assessments and reviews.
• Help residents with housing, finances, benefits, health, education and employment.
• Support residents to manage their accommodation, budgeting and rent payments.
• Encourage participation in activities, training, education and work.
• Help residents plan for and move into longer-term accommodation.
• Carry out property checks and report any repairs or maintenance issues.
• Identify safeguarding concerns and respond to incidents or emergencies.
• Help maintain a safe, positive and respectful living environment.
• Keep accurate records and update support plans.
• Work with other agencies and professionals to support residents.
• Encourage resident feedback and involvement in the service.
• Treat everyone fairly, with dignity and respect.
• Work flexibly across different services to meet residents’ needs.
