Job summary

Telford College is launching a Youth Hub in the Skills Shop, Telford Town Centre, and seeks an Employment and Skills Mentor to lead frontline delivery. You will manage a caseload, run one-to-one sessions, and plan group employability activities to help participants move into employment, education, or training.

A fixed-term contract of 37 hours weekly offers a salary of £31,174. Benefits include outreach, barrier support, and collaboration with Jobcentre Plus and community partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in employability, recruitment or progression-focused roles.
• Experience supporting individuals into employment, education or training outcomes.
• Experience managing a caseload and working to targets/KPIs.
• Experience delivering one-to-one support/mentoring.
• Experience delivering group sessions, workshops or job clubs.
• Experience of outreach/community-based engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of participants, maintaining regular contact to drive engagement and progression.
• Deliver regular structured one-to-one sessions to support participants into employment, education or training.
• Plan and deliver group-based employability sessions, including job clubs, workshops and skills sessions.
• Deliver practical employability support including: CV writing and applications, interview preparation and mock interviews, job search and digital job matching.
• Support progression into employment, apprenticeships, further education or provide support to participants with in-work development.
• Identify and support participants to overcome barriers including confidence, mental health and wellbeing, housing, financial and social challenges.
• Deliver outreach activity across the community, including targeted areas and priority groups.
• Support engagement in hub activity through attendance at Jobcentre Plus sign-up days, community venues and events.
