Job summary

AKG UK seeks a participant-centred Mentor to support eligible young people (18–24) with pre-employment and in-work support. You will coordinate tailored plans, maintain contact with participants and employers, and ensure records meet contractual and compliance standards.

Role involves building confidence, delivering CV and interview support, and working across local areas to enable funded employment and progression. Travel across sites will be required, with no homeworking.

Qualifications

• Experience of providing one-to-one mentoring or employment support to young people.
• Experience in employability, welfare-to-work, youth employment or similar target-driven environments.
• Ability to build trust, motivate participants and maintain engagement across multiple channels.
• Knowledge of action planning, barrier removal and work-readiness support.
• Ability to manage a caseload, meet deadlines and achieve targets.

Responsibilities

• Build rapport with young people and establish a supportive working relationship.
• Manage a caseload with structured mentoring from referral through pre-employment and progression.
• Complete assessments, identify barriers, and agree SMART action plans with regular reviews.
• Deliver confidence-building, work-readiness and job-search support including CVs and interview prep.
• Match participants to funded employment opportunities with employers and support recruitment.
• Provide in-work support with regular check-ins and workplace coaching.
• Maintain In-Work Support Plans and update required records.
• Re-engage participants who fall out of work to restart support and progression.
• Maintain audit-ready records on case management systems and contract requirements.
• Collaborate with Jobcentre Plus, employers, training providers and partners.
• Work flexibly across locations and outside hours as needed.
• Deliver duties in line with AKG values and policies.
