Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a Year 5 Learning Mentor for an outstanding Brent-based Primary School starting September 2026. You will support Year 5 pupils with academic and pastoral needs as they transition to Year 6 and SATs preparation.

This role focuses on English and Mathematics support, building confidence, resilience and positive study habits; you will work with teachers to reinforce learning and track progress. An energetic, caring approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with primary KS2 pupils.
• Ability to deliver one-to-one and small-group support.
• Strong English and Mathematics focus.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions in English and Mathematics to support progress towards Year 6 SATs.
• Work alongside class teachers to reinforce learning objectives and identify pupils who require additional support.
• Support Year 5 pupils with a smooth transition into Year 6 by developing key literacy, numeracy and study skills.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, motivation and a growth mindset.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning through targeted academic and emotional support.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
• Liaise with teachers and parents/carers to provide updates on pupil progress where appropriate.
• Assist with SATs preparation, revision sessions and examination techniques.
