Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a Year 5 & 6 Learning Mentor for a Brent-based Primary School, starting September 2026. The role focuses on supporting Year 5 pupils ahead of Year 6, and helping Year 6 pupils strengthen English and Mathematics, confidence and study habits to prepare for SATs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions in English and Mathematics to support progress towards Year 6 SATs.
• Work alongside class teachers to reinforce learning objectives and identify pupils who require additional support.
• Support Year 5 pupils with a smooth transition into Year 6 by developing key literacy, numeracy and study skills.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, motivation and a growth mindset.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning through targeted academic and emotional support.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
• Liaise with teachers and parents/carers to provide updates on pupil progress where appropriate.
• Assist with SATs preparation, revision sessions and examination techniques.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and effective learning habits within the classroom.
• Contribute to creating a supportive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
