Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a KS2 Learning Mentor for an outstanding Brent-based primary school to start September 2026. You will support Year 5 pupils preparing for Year 6 SATs and work with Year 6 pupils to strengthen English and Maths skills, confidence and resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary-aged children, particularly within Key Stage 2.
• Good understanding of Year 5 and Year 6 English and Mathematics curriculum.
• Confidence delivering one-to-one and small-group interventions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate pupils.
• Strong organisational skills to monitor and record pupil progress.
• Proactive and professional approach to supporting pupils of varying abilities.
• Commitment to helping children develop confidence, resilience and a love of learning.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions in English and Mathematics to support progress towards Year 6 SATs.
• Work alongside class teachers to reinforce learning objectives and identify pupils who require additional support.
• Support Year 5 pupils with a smooth transition into Year 6 by developing key literacy, numeracy and study skills.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence, motivation and a growth mindset.
• Help pupils overcome barriers to learning through targeted academic and emotional support.
• Monitor pupil progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
• Liaise with teachers and parents/carers to provide updates on pupil progress where appropriate.
• Assist with SATs preparation, revision sessions and examination techniques.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and effective learning habits within the classroom.
• Contribute to creating a supportive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
