Job summary

Reed is seeking a Year 3 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with autism in a primary school in BD3. You will provide one-on-one support and assist in the mainstream class, including the autism provision, to help the pupil engage with the curriculum.

The role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach, with collaboration with the SENCO and teachers to develop personalized learning plans and promote inclusive education.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with autism and/or challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to the pupil, helping engagement with curriculum.
  • Implement strategies to manage and reduce challenging behaviour.
  • Work with the class teacher and SENCO to develop individualized learning plans.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for social and emotional development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals.
