Job summary

Reed is seeking compassionate Teaching Assistants to join the SEN unit of a well-established primary school. This unit specifically supports pupils with significant social communication differences, such as autism.

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. You will provide tailored support to pupils and assist in developing and implementing IEPs, while promoting social skills through structured activities and

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in SEN settings.
  • Understanding autism and social communication differences.
  • Patience, resilience and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, with use of aids beneficial.
  • Ability to work in a team with an SEN coordinator.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or SEN are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences under the guidance of the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
  • Use a variety of communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
  • Monitor and support the pupil's emotional and behavioural needs, providing immediate assistance and feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote well-being and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and incidents, reporting to relevant parties as necessary.
