Job summary

Reed is seeking compassionate Teaching Assistants to join the SEN unit of a well-established primary school. You will support pupils with social communication differences under the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.

The role involves developing IEPs, facilitating social skills, using communication aids, and recording progress. The position offers opportunities for professional development and a supportive consultant to guide you.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, particularly in an SEN setting.
  • Understanding of challenges faced by students with social communication differences, such as autism.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach towards student needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in using communication aids beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of an SEN coordinator.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences under SEN guidance.
  • Assist in developing and implementing IEPs for students.
  • Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
  • Utilise communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
  • Monitor and support emotional/behavioural needs with timely feedback.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and professionals to promote well-being and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and incidents for reporting.
