Job summary

Reed is seeking compassionate Teaching Assistants to join the SEN unit of a well-established primary school. You will support pupils with significant social communication differences, including autism, and contribute to their progress under the SEN coordinator and classroom staff.

Day-to-day tasks include developing IEPs, facilitating social skills and using communication aids to enhance learning. A rewarding role with professional development and supportive guidance.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children in SEN settings.
  • Understanding of autism and social communication needs.
  • Calm, patient approach and reliable teamwork.
  • Ability to follow guidance from SEN staff and teachers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN under guidance of SEN coordinator.
  • Assist in developing and implementing IEPs for students.
  • Facilitate social skills through structured activities and natural settings.
  • Use communication aids to aid interaction and learning.
  • Monitor emotional/behavioural needs and report issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and other professionals to support progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and incidents.
