Job summary

Reed Education is seeking compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a Primary School's SEN unit, supporting pupils with social communication differences such as autism. You will work under the SEN coordinator and class teachers to provide tailored support and contribute to IEP development.

This role offers a collaborative, inclusive environment, opportunities for professional development and access to Reed's annual training.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, particularly in an SEN setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with social communication differences, such as autism.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach towards student needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in using communication aids beneficial.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the guidance of an SEN coordinator.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with social communication differences, under the guidance of the SEN coordinator and classroom teachers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Facilitate social skills development through structured activities and naturalistic settings.
  • Use a variety of communication aids and strategies to enhance pupil interaction and learning.
  • Monitor and support the pupil's emotional and behavioural needs, providing immediate assistance and feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote the well-being and progress of students.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' progress and any incidents that occur, reporting to the relevant parties as necessary.
