  • Using effective phonics strategies to support pupils' decoding, blending, and word recognition skills.
  • Supporting pupils to improve their writing skills, including spelling, sentence structure, punctuation, and vocabulary.
  • Providing appropriate support and challenge to ensure all pupils are engaged in learning.
  • Providing constructive feedback to help pupils understand their strengths and areas for development.
  • Maintaining high expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour, and engagement.
  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively and promoting positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils and encouraging a respectful classroom culture.

  • A good understanding of the primary curriculum, particularly English and Maths.
  • Strong phonics knowledge and experience supporting pupils with early reading development.
  • The ability to identify gaps in learning and adapt teaching to support pupils working below age-related expectations.
  • Experience planning, preparing, and delivering effective, differentiated lessons.
