Job summary

Step Teachers Ltd is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 11 student with ADHD and autism. The role focuses on personalised 1:1 assistance across lessons, helping with concentration, organisation and engagement to achieve GCSE targets.

The ideal candidate has experience with ADHD/Autism, strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills, with a patient and empathetic approach and the ability to motivate learners.

Qualifications

• Experience with supporting young people with ADHD and Autism.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Patient, calm and empathetic approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships and motivate learners.
• Understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive practice.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.

Responsibilities

• Providing tailored 1:1 support in lessons and across the setting.
• Supporting concentration, organisation, and engagement in learning.
• Implementing strategies to meet the student's individual needs.
• Assisting with emotional regulation and anxiety management.
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience.
• Supporting progress towards GCSE and academic targets.
• Working closely with teachers, SEND staff, and parents where appropriate.
• Building a positive, trusting, and professional relationship with the student.
