Job summary

Supply Desk, in partnership with Greenford Primary School, is seeking a Year 1 Teacher for a full-time role starting October. This opportunity suits an Early Career or experienced KS1 teacher to support pupils as they build strong foundations in their primary education.

The successful candidate will deliver a broad KS1 curriculum, create an engaging classroom, and work with teaching assistants to support phonics, reading, writing and numeracy, with an Enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) desirable.
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 or Early Years is preferred.
• Strong understanding of KS1 curriculum and phonics schemes.

Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 national curriculum.
• Supporting pupils in phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy.
• Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and interventions.
• Preparing pupils for the Phonics Screening Check.
• Creating an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
• Encouraging pupil confidence, independence and curiosity.
• Building strong relationships with parents, carers and staff.
• Collaborating with teaching assistants and the wider school team.

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Greenford to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Early Career or experienced Key Stage 1 teacher to join a nurturing school environment and support pupils as they build strong foundations at the beginning of their primary education journey.

This role would suit a passionate and adaptable teacher with a solid understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, who is committed to delivering engaging lessons and helping young learners develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

The Role

As a Year 1 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, creating a positive and stimulating classroom environment where pupils feel supported, inspired, and excited to learn.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 national curriculum
• Supporting pupils early development in phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy
• Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and interventions
• Preparing pupils for the Phonics Screening Check
• Creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Encouraging pupil confidence, independence, and curiosity
• Providing targeted support for pupils of varying abilities, including SEN
• Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and staff
• Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Desirable
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 or Early Years
• Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and phonics schemes
• Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
• A creative, engaging, and nurturing teaching style
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

• Experience in Year 1 or Year 2
• Knowledge of phonics programmes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs (SEN)
