Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable.
  • Experience teaching Key Stage 1 or Early Years.
  • Strong KS1 curriculum knowledge and assessment expectations.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisation.
  • Creative, engaging, and structured teaching style.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in Year 2 and phonics programmes.
  • Experience preparing pupils for KS1 SATs.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons aligned to the KS1 national curriculum.
  • Support reading, writing, maths and phonics development.
  • Prepare pupils for end of KS1 SATs.
  • Monitor progress and inform interventions with data.

West Drayton | Primary School Setting | ASAP Start

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in West Drayton to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 2 Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for an Early Career or experienced Key Stage 1 teacher to join a nurturing school environment and support pupils at a crucial stage in their primary education.

This role would suit a passionate and adaptable teacher with a strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, who is committed to delivering engaging lessons and supporting pupils as they prepare for their transition into Key Stage 2.

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, creating a positive and structured classroom environment where pupils feel supported, challenged, and motivated to succeed.

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Key Stage 1 national curriculum
  • Supporting pupils’ development in reading, writing, maths, and phonics
  • Preparing pupils for end of Key Stage 1 assessments (SATs)
  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and interventions
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
  • Encouraging pupil independence, resilience, and confidence
  • Providing targeted support for pupils of varying abilities, including SEN
  • Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and staff
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
  • Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 or Early Years
  • Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and assessment expectations
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • A creative, engaging, and structured teaching style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Knowledge of phonics programmes (e.g. Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
