Job summary

Mole Valley Farmers is seeking a dedicated Yard Team Member to support daily yard and store operations in Newton Abbot. The role involves stock handling, customer service, and maintaining tidy external areas while working with the Stock Supervisor and team.

The role requires a hands-on approach, good communication and IT skills, and a willingness to follow processes and safety standards. Fixed-term, full-time 37.5 hours per week across 5 days.

Qualifications

• Experience in a yard/warehouse/retail environment preferred.
• Forklift truck licence advantageous.
• Good IT skills and ability to use systems.
• Awareness of data protection and health & safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service at the counter and in the yard.
• Receive, check, and load stock accurately.
• Support Point of Sale operations when required.
• Maintain external areas to high presentation standards.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and assist with stock reviews.
• Support stocktaking and maintain stock records.
• Follow health & safety procedures and UFAS regulations.

Description

We’re looking for a hardworking and customer-focused Yard Team Member to support the day-to-day operations of our yard and store. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll help maintain a safe, organised, and welcoming environment for our members and customers, while working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.

About The Role

Contract: Temporary

Hours: Full-time

Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours per week, working 5 out of 7 days

As a Yard Team Member, you’ll play a key role in stock handling, customer service, and maintaining high standards across external areas. You’ll support the Stock Supervisor and wider team to ensure efficient operations and a positive experience for everyone who visits the store.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering excellent customer service at the counter and across the yard
• Receiving, checking, and loading stock accurately and efficiently
• Supporting Point of Sale operations when required
• Maintaining external areas to a high standard of presentation
• Investigating stock discrepancies and supporting seasonal stock reviews
• Participating in stocktaking and maintaining stock file integrity
• Following health & safety procedures and UFAS regulations

About You

• Experience in a yard, warehouse, or retail environment (preferred)
• Familiarity with agricultural or countryside settings (beneficial)
• A forklift truck licence (advantageous)
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately
• Good IT skills and confidence using systems
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
• Awareness of Data Protection / GDPR and Health & Safety standards
• You’ll be friendly, self‑motivated, and adaptable, with a commitment to delivering high-quality service and working as part of a team.
