Job summary

Wernick Hire is seeking a Yard Operative/Handyperson to maintain, repair and prepare modular buildings and site accommodation units. You will ensure efficient, safe operations across the depot, with responsibilities including servicing welfare units, repairs, and housekeeping.

ideal candidates will have hands-on skills in plumbing, joinery or electrical work, strong multitasking ability, and a proactive, team-focused attitude.

Qualifications

Experience in plumbing, joinery or electrical work is highly beneficial.
Ability to multitask and prioritise a busy workload.
Experience in cabin fitting is a distinct advantage.
Forklift knowledge is beneficial when handling site equipment.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and Upkeep: Clean, paint, and perform general maintenance on cabins and buildings as directed.
Servicing: Service mobile welfare units to ensure they're in top condition.
Repairs: Conduct site visits to carry out necessary repairs promptly.
Furniture Management: Check and store furniture returned to the yard, ensuring it's properly removed from cabins and placed back in storage.
Forklift Maintenance: Keep the forklift truck in excellent working order.
Efficiency: Minimise material wastage and assist with safe loading/unloading of cabins and materials.
Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised yard and workshop at all times.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to health and safety legislation for a safe working environment.
