Job summary

Veolia in Hinckley is looking for a dedicated yard operative to load and unload vehicles using a 360 grab, and keep the yard clean and organised.

You'll follow health and safety rules, report vehicle or maintenance issues, and carry out general yard upkeep. Essential: 360 Excavator License; Class 2 licence and CPC/Digi are desirable. This role is outdoors, requires fitness and reliability.

Qualifications

• 360 Excavator license required.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload vehicles using a 360 grab, ensuring safe handling of materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard and surrounding areas.
• Remove debris, litter and waste from the premises.
• Perform general yard maintenance including sweeping and tidying.
• Ensure equipment and cleaning supplies are properly maintained and stored.
• Report vehicle damage or maintenance issues to management and follow health and safety protocols.

What you'll be doing

• Loading and unloading vehicles with 360 grab: Handle materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are safely loaded and unloaded from vehicles and stored in designated areas
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard and surrounding areas
• Remove debris, litter, and waste from the premises
• Perform general yard maintenance including sweeping, tidying, and minor repairs
• Ensure all equipment and cleaning supplies are properly maintained
• Report any vehicle damage or maintenance issues to management
• Follow health and safety protocols at all times

What we're looking for

Essential:

• 360 Excavator License (Both tracked and wheeled) to operate re-handling grab
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour

Desirable:

• Previous experience in yard maintenance
• Class 2 (Cat C) licence would be advantageous
• Up to date CPC / Digi card would be advantageous
