Job summary

Year 6 Teacher Upper KS2 role based in Smethwick, Sandwell. The position is a full-time supply long-term placement with Monday to Friday hours and a daily rate of £146.85–£202.33.

The school seeks an experienced teacher with QTS, strong KS2 background, and the ability to plan engaging Year 6 lessons while maintaining high expectations and supportive classroom environments. Experience with SEND or EAL is advantageous, and an additional language is desirable to support the diverse community.

Qualifications

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• Have previous teaching experience within Key Stage 2, ideally Upper KS2.
• Be confident planning and preparing engaging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum.
• Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Be confident differentiating lessons for mixed-ability classes.
• Experience assessing, marking and monitoring pupil progress.
• Have a positive and inclusive approach to teaching.
• Be confident supporting pupils with SEND and/or EAL; additional language is advantageous.

Salary: £146.85 - £202.33 per day

Introduction to the Role

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Smethwick, Sandwell that is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher.

They are looking for a teacher who can build positive relationships, maintain high expectations and create an engaging and supportive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, particularly Year 5 or Year 6, and will be confident taking on the full responsibilities of a class teacher.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND or working within diverse school communities would be highly desirable. The ability to speak an additional language alongside English would also be advantageous due to the diverse community the school serves.

Compliance Requirements

• Providing two professional references from recent employers.
• Holding an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• If you do not currently hold a suitable DBS, being willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS through TeacherActive.
• Having the right to work in the UK.
• Completing all required safeguarding and compliance checks prior to placement.
