TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming primary school in Smethwick, Sandwell, recruiting an experienced Year 6 Teacher for a supply – long-term position. The role is full-time (Mon-Fri) with a daily rate of £146.85 - £202.33.

The ideal candidate will hold UK QTS, have Upper Key Stage 2 experience (Year 5 or 6), and be confident planning engaging lessons, differentiating for mixed-ability classes and tracking pupil progress. SEND/EAL experience is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Upper KS2.
  • Ability to plan engaging Year 6 lessons and differentiate for mixed-ability classes.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or EAL would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Year 6 lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Differentiate learning to meet mixed-ability pupils.
  • Assess, mark and track pupil progress.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and other staff.
  • Attend staff meetings and CPD sessions.

Introduction to the Role

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Smethwick, Sandwell that is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher.

The school serves a diverse community and is committed to providing every pupil with the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or individual needs. They are looking for a teacher who can build positive relationships, maintain high expectations and create an engaging and supportive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, particularly Year 5 or Year 6, and will be confident taking on the full responsibilities of a class teacher.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND or working within diverse school communities would be highly desirable. The ability to speak an additional language alongside English would also be advantageous due to the diverse community the school serves.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal Year 6 Teacher will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • Have previous teaching experience within Key Stage 2, ideally Upper KS2.
  • Be confident planning and preparing engaging lessons across the Year 6 curriculum.
  • Have strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Be confident differentiating lessons for mixed-ability classes.
  • Have experience assessing, marking and monitoring pupil progress.
  • Have a positive and inclusive approach to teaching.
  • Be confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND and/or EAL would be advantageous.
  • An additional spoken language alongside English would be desirable but is not essential.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Key Responsibilities

As the Year 6 Teacher, you will be expected to take on the full responsibilities associated with the class, including:

  • Planning and preparing high-quality lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Delivering engaging lessons appropriate for Year 6 pupils.
  • Differentiating learning to meet the needs of mixed-ability pupils.
  • Assessing, marking and tracking pupil progress.
  • Maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs where required.
  • Working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and other support staff.
  • Attending relevant staff meetings and CPD sessions.
  • Attending parents' evenings and communicating effectively with parents and carers.
  • Contributing positively to the wider life of the school.
Compliance Requirements

All applicants will be required to meet TeacherActive's safeguarding and compliance requirements, including:

  • Providing two professional references from recent employers.
  • Holding an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
  • If you do not currently hold a suitable DBS, being willing to obtain a new Enhanced DBS through TeacherActive.
  • Having the right to work in the UK.
  • Completing all required safeguarding and compliance checks prior to placement.
