Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Workshop Supervisor in Rochester to lead our vehicle maintenance team and keep our fleet in top condition. You will coordinate technicians, schedule inspections, and ensure safe, compliant operations across depots.

The role emphasizes hands-on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and effective communication with contractors, while upholding health and safety standards and delivering reliable service.

Qualifications

• Essential: City & Guilds or HGV NVQ level 3 vehicle maintenance and repairs.
• Good communication skills; ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
• It skills and knowledge of MOT regulations are required.
• Desirable: forklift, HGV licence, welding, plant/RCV experience and IRTEC approval.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain Veolia fleet and 3rd party vehicles/plant to factory and industry standards.
• Perform vehicle diagnostics using specialised equipment and conduct hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic repairs.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintain workplace safety standards.
• Complete all required paperwork, timesheets, and operational update sheets accurately and timely.
• Conduct HGV MOT inspections, preparations, and emergency roadside repairs.
• Serve as the first point of contact for technicians and coordinate work allocation effectively.
• Manage contractor communications, tire services, and perform 4-point MOT checks.
• Conduct weekly workshop inspections and manage job card processes.
• Ensure proper shift handovers and maintain technician productivity above 80%.
• Coordinate holiday schedules, training allocation, and wash operative coverage across all depots.
