Job summary

Veolia is hiring a skilled HGV Technician to repair and maintain our fleet and third-party vehicles. You will diagnose issues with hydraulics, electrics and pneumatics, perform MOTs, and complete roadside repairs as needed. Training is provided where required, with a focus on safety and quality.

The role involves 40 hours weekly, rotating shifts, with a base at Merton Workshop in London. You’ll work Monday–Friday with overtime and enhanced rates for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Mechanical Fitter/HGV Technician is required.
  • Awareness of health and safety requirements.
  • Own a comprehensive tool kit (diagnostic equipment and specialised tools are provided by Veolia).

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain the Veolia Fleet, 3rd party vehicles and plant.
  • Run diagnostics on vehicles using a range of equipment.
  • Carry out hydraulic, electrics and pneumatics diagnostics and repairs.
  • Perform other general workshop tasks as directed by the Workshop Management Team.
  • Work within Health & Safety regulations and ensure personal safety and safety of others.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and timesheets accurately.
  • Carry out HGV MOT inspections and preparations (IRTEC licence preferred, training provided).
  • Complete roadside repairs when required (training to be provided).

Salary: Up to £50,169.60 per annum (24.12 p/h) plus Veolia benefits

x1.5 overtime rate

x2 Sundays rate

x2 Bank Holiday working plus Veolia benefits.

What will you be doing?
  • Repair and maintain the Veolia Fleet, 3rd party vehicles and plant in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Run diagnostics on vehicles using a range of equipment.
  • Hydraulic, electrics, pneumatics diagnostics and repairs.
  • Other general work as required by the Workshop Management Team.
  • Work within Health & Safety regulations and be responsible for your safety and those around you.
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork, and time sheets are completed accurately.
  • Carry out HGV MOT inspections and preparations. (IRTEC Licence preferred however we can provide training)
  • Complete roadside repairs when necessary (Training to be provide)
What we're looking for;
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter/HGV Technician ideally with an NVQ Level 3 Vehicle Qualification.
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Hold a HGV driving licence (Preferred but not essential).
  • Supply your own comprehensive tool kit. (diagnostic equipment and specialised tools provided by Veolia)
