Job summary

Briggs Equipment is seeking a proactive Workshop Engineer to service and repair diesel, LPG and electric materials handling equipment from our Maidenhead workshop. You will perform fault diagnosis, planned maintenance and pre-delivery inspections, while ensuring a clean and safe workspace and adherence to workshop standards.

The role requires a strong mechanical background, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship with excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in workshop-based or field service engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel, LPG and electric materials handling equipment.
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis, planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and pre-delivery inspections on forklift trucks and related equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment and shared areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and company policies.

The Impact You Will Have:
  • The servicing, maintenance and repair of diesel, LPG and electric materials handling equipment.
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and pre-delivery inspections on forklift trucks and associated equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment, including shared working areas.
  • Ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures, company policies and workshop standards.
  • Accurately completing job cards and identifying, ordering and tracking parts required to complete repairs efficiently.
What Will Help You Excel in This Role:
  • Experience working on cars, forklifts, plant machinery, cleaning equipment, powered access machines, HGVs or similar mechanical equipment, supported by a relevant technical qualification.
  • Previous experience within a workshop-based or field service engineering environment.
  • A strong understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems and principles.
  • The ability to work independently, solve problems effectively and perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload.
