Job summary

Briggs Equipment in Falkirk and surrounding areas is seeking a Field Engineer to join our engineering team. You will service customer sites, diagnose faults, and ensure safety standards are met.

The role offers a permanent contract with a 40-hour week (Mon-Fri). A salary of £36,839–£38,653 plus overtime and door-to-door payments is provided, with additional benefits such as pension and health schemes.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification.
• Previous experience within a similar role.
• Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical principles.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Ability to manage and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Attending customer sites to assess job scope, agree on priorities, and ensure safe working practices.
• Communicating with the controller and customer to clarify expected work, timelines, and costs.
• Identifying root causes of breakdowns and sourcing parts cost-effectively, using technical support if needed.
• Ensuring all work meets engineering standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Inspecting and testing work throughout to confirm safety and performance before handover.
• Flagging any additional work required, especially if chargeable, to maximise revenue and keep the customer informed.
• Accurately complete job documentation and obtain all required customer approvals.
• Reporting safety issues or improvements as necessary.

About Us: Briggs Equipment Group is a leading provider of material handling, powdered access, plant and specialist rental equipment offering new and used sales, short and long-term hire, engineering services, training and asset management.

We have a new opportunity for a Field Engineer to join our friendly and supportive engineering team.

We welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in forklift trucks, plant machinery, agricultural equipment, HGVs, passenger vehicles, carsor similar machinery.

In the role you will be:
