Job summary

Briggs Equipment's Gwynedd Forklifts division in North Wales is seeking a Workshop Engineer to service, maintain and repair diesel, LPG and electrical materials handling equipment in the workshop.

You will ensure work is performed safely and to high standards, provide guidance and on-the-job training to Apprentices, manage workload, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement with future development and benefits, including a contributory pension and health scheme.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working on diesel, LPG and electrical equipment in a workshop or field setting.
  • Previous workshop or field-based experience is essential.
  • Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical principals.
  • The ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain and repair diesel, LPG and electrical machinery in the workshop.
  • Ensure safety and high standards of workmanship.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job training to Apprentices.

The Opportunity: Workshop Engineer
Contract: Permanent
Location: Gwynedd Forklifts,Conwy Depot

Established in 1986 to sell, hire, service and repair forklift trucks to the North Wales region and now growing to a multi-site operation with bases in Conwy, North Wales and Oswestry in Shropshire; Gwynedd Forklifts are the biggest material handling and powered access company in Wales. Gwynedd Forklifts has been acquired by The Briggs Equipment Group who are a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. As a Workshop Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment within the workshop. You will ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard, minimising downtime and maintaining equipment reliability. Tasks must be completed within agreed timescales, while adhering to company procedures and health and safety requirements. In addition, you will provide guidance, support, and on-the-job training to Apprentices, helping to develop their technical skills and knowledge.

The Impact you will have:
  • The service and maintenance of diesel, LPG and electrical materials handling equipment
  • Fault finding, planned preventative maintenance and pre delivery inspection of forklift trucks
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly working area including common areas
  • Adhering to all health and safety guidelines and workshop rules
  • Completing job cards and ensuring all required parts to complete tasks are ordered
What will help you to excel in this role:
  • Experience of working on either; cars, forklifts, plant equipment, cleaning machines, powered access, HGV’s or similar. Relevant technical qualification
  • Previous experience within either a workshop or field based position
  • Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical principals
  • The ability to work independently and under pressure
  • The ability to manage and prioritise workload
