Job summary

Sandown Dorset and Wiltshire Limited in Newbury is recruiting a Workshop Controller to optimise workshop resources and control workflow. The role combines semi-productive hands-on servicing and diagnostic work with overseeing technicians to maximise efficiency and meet budgets.

You will lead by example, support the team during peak periods, and ensure customer vehicles are repaired and maintained to the highest standards. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Workshop Controller or senior technician in a franchised dealership
• Qualified vehicle technician with strong diagnostic and technical skills
• Excellent leadership and people management abilities

Responsibilities

• Plan the distribution of work among technicians to maximise sold hours
• Monitor workshop efficiencies to meet KPIs
• Receive jobs, pre-time, allocate work and supervise progress
• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repair as required
• Lead by example to maintain high workmanship standards
• Support the workshop during busy periods and absences
• Ensure customer vehicles are repaired and maintained to high standards
• Maintain liaison between workshop and service reception regarding progress
