Job summary

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group is seeking a proactive Work Experience Officer to support construction learners, forging links with local employers and coordinating placements. The role focuses on creating meaningful work experience opportunities and ensuring placements meet curriculum aims.

You will work with curriculum teams to match learners, prepare them with pre-placement requirements such as CSCS cards, and record placements on college systems.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant qualification.
• Has substantial experience of supporting young people or learners within an education, employability or structured support environment.
• Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
• Is an effective communicator.
• Has strong administrative skills, well organised, able to keep accurate and easily retrievable records.
• Holds a current driving licence and place to work and study.

Responsibilities

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To develop positive and professional relationships with construction employers, promoting the benefits of providing work experience and supporting employers to participate effectively.
• To work closely with curriculum teams to identify learners requiring work experience and understand the requirements and intended outcomes of their placement.
• To match learners to appropriate work experience opportunities, taking account of their programme of study, career aspirations, skills, individual circumstances and the requirements of the employer.
• To support learners to become work and site-ready prior to placement, including relevant pre-placement
  requirements such as CSCS cards and other industry-specific requirements where appropriate.
• To ensure all necessary placement documentation and checks are completed accurately and in a timely manner, in accordance with College procedures and relevant health and safety, safeguarding and insurance requirements.
• To ensure work experience placements and associated learner and employer information are accurately recorded and maintained on College systems, including Grofar, to support effective monitoring, reporting and audit requirements.
