Job summary

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group is recruiting a Work Experience Officer to co-ordinate meaningful placements for Construction learners across NSCG. You will build relationships with construction employers and work with curriculum teams to identify learners needing work experience.

The role requires holding a relevant qualification, GCSE English and Maths, and strong IT/administrative skills. A driving licence and use of a car are expected, with a commitment to safeguarding and accurate

Qualifications

Holds a relevant qualification.
Has substantial experience of supporting young people or learners within an education, employability or structured support environment.
Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
Is an effective communicator.
Has strong administrative skills, well organised, able to keep accurate and easily retrievable records.

Responsibilities

To develop positive and professional relationships with construction employers, promoting the benefits of providing work experience and supporting employers to participate effectively.
To work closely with curriculum teams to identify learners requiring work experience and understand the requirements and intended outcomes of their placement.
To match learners to appropriate work experience opportunities, taking account of their programme of study, career aspirations, skills, individual circumstances and the requirements of the employer.
To support learners to become work and site-ready prior to placement, including relevant pre-placement requirements such as CSCS cards and other industry-specific requirements where appropriate.
To ensure all necessary placement documentation and checks are completed accurately and in a timely manner, in accordance with College procedures and relevant health and safety, safeguarding and insurance requirements.
To ensure work experience placements and associated learner and employer information are accurately recorded and maintained on College systems, including Grofar, to support effective monitoring, reporting and audit requirements.
