Job summary

WEC Group Training Academy (MTL Rotherham) is seeking an experienced Welding Instructor to coach and train apprentices in MIG and TIG welding, with a focus on safety and practical skills. You will deliver the Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship Standard and provide hands-on guidance to learners in a busy workshop.

You will mentor apprentices, assess progress, and help them develop confidence and technical competence while maintaining equipment to the highest safety standards.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding.
• Solid background in fabrication and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability to motivate, coach and support apprentices of varying abilities.
• Proactive approach and able to work independently with initiative.
• Genuine passion for developing the next generation of engineers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and support the Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship Standard.
• Provide a professional onboarding experience for new apprentices.
• Teach a range of welding and fabrication techniques with a focus on safety.
• Assess apprentice performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Support apprentices throughout their learning journey and build confidence.
• Maintain training equipment and workshop facilities to high safety and efficiency standards.
• Promote a positive learning culture that encourages excellence.
