Job summary

WEC Group Training Academy (MTL Rotherham) is seeking a Welding Instructor to deliver and support the Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship Standard. The role focuses on MIG and TIG welding, safe practices, and providing a high-quality onboarding experience for new apprentices.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on welding experience, the ability to interpret engineering drawings, and excellent mentoring and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in MIG and TIG welding.
• Solid background in fabrication and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Ability to motivate, coach and support apprentices of varying abilities.
• Proactive approach with the confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Genuine passion for developing the next generation of engineers.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and support the Level 3 Plate Welder Apprenticeship Standard.
• Provide a professional and engaging onboarding experience for new apprentices.
• Teach a range of welding and fabrication techniques, with a focus on safe working practices.
• Assess apprentice performance and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Support apprentices throughout their learning journey, helping them build confidence and technical competence.
• Maintain training equipment and workshop facilities to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
• Promote a positive learning culture that encourages excellence and continuous development.
