Job summary

NVQ Assessor in North Wiltshire is recruiting to deliver engaging Welder training for military trainees. The role involves coaching learners, preparing lesson plans, and conducting assessments across MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and OA processes.

You will also supervise sessions, maintain equipment, ensure health and safety, and support with welding-related tasks while advancing your teaching qualifications where needed.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a recognised Level 3 qualification in Welding (Apprenticeship or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a welding environment.
  • Must hold supervisory experience.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Hold or be willing to work toward Level 4 Teaching Qualification.
  • Confident to deliver classroom-based/group training with full training/resources provided.
  • Must hold or be willing to undertake DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver welding training to trainees using MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and OA.
  • Coach, support and motivate learners throughout the training programme.
  • Carry out visual and destructive testing of welds.
  • Invigilate, mark and assess practical and theoretical exams and tests.
  • Prepare lesson plans and training materials.
  • Review material to reflect new technology and equipment advances.
  • Maintain training equipment and facilities.
  • Supervise learners and visitors to ensure H&S compliance.
  • Assist with manufacturing tasks and welding-related repairs.

Job description

Full training and support will be given to trainee candidates. Centre-based delivery in North Wiltshire. 37 hours per week.

Your duties will include:

  • Deliver engaging Welder training, to military trainees, utilising MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, TIG and OA.
  • Coach, support and motivate learners throughout their training programme and provide revision training as required.
  • Carry out visual and destructive testing of welds.
  • Invigilate, mark and assess practical and theoretical examinations and weekly progression tests.
  • Prepare lesson plans and support materials.
  • Review material/content to ensure it is current and reflects new technology and equipment advances.
  • Maintain training equipment.
  • Supervise learners and visitors to ensure compliance with H&S.
  • Assist with manufacturing tasks and welding-related repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Candidates must hold a recognised level 3 qualification in Welding (Apprenticeship, or equivalent)

To be an Assessor you would need to hold either an; A1/2, D32/33, or CAVA which we have a link to HERE . Similarly so, to be a FE practitioner, in other words, a Trainer, you should hold at a minimum the AET (Level 3 Award in Education and Training). The position does not ask for these so do not feel deterred to apply if you do not possess them. However, it is in our professional opinion you need to have either qualification before applying.
