Job summary

Winsearch is recruiting a Welder / Fabricator in Burnley. You will operate flame-cutting and welding equipment, including MIG/MAG and TIG processes, to meet ASME and company quality standards. Role involves manual handling, reading weld symbols, and completing quality documentation.

A time-served qualification or equivalent is required, with potential for coded welding experience. The position offers day, twilight, and night shifts with hourly rates depending on shift.

Qualifications

Welder / Fabricator

Burnley

Day shift: Mon to Thurs 07:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and Friday 07:30 a.m. - 12:30 a.m.

Twilight Shift: Mon to Thurs 4pm to midnight and Friday 12 noon to 6 pm

Night Shift: Mon to Thurs 10:00 p.m. - 07:30 a.m.

£16.21 p/h for Day Shift, £21.76 p/h for Twilight Shift, £21.01 p/h for Night Shift

Responsibilities:

• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
• Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using MIG/MAG and TIG processes.
• Welding must meet both company quality standards, and ASME standards.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Manually handle weights up to 25kg.
• Use of hand fettling/grinding tools.
• Perform welding tasks productively.
• Read and complete tasks to meet technical drawings, work with, and understand weld symbols and weld procedures (WPS).
• May have contact with small amounts of grinding dust/welding fume containing stainless steel.
• Observe and practice the 5S principles.
• Complete quality documentation.
• Contribute to a team working environment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement.
• Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as press brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, and drill presses.
• Fabricate and assemble sheet metal products.
• Set up and operate machine tools associated with fabricating shops, such as radial drill press, end mill, and edge planer.
• Bends and straighten metal by hammering, chipping and grinding it.

The Candidate:

• Must be time served and/or have equivalent qualification
• Ideally a coded welder with pipe welding experience

Requirements:

• Knowledge of Welding Equipment both MIG/MAG & TIG, and be proficient in assigned welding
• techniques.
• Prior experience of operating robot welders would be advantageous.
• Seam weld experience would be preferred.
• Experience of using laser equipment is desirable.
