Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Welder for 12-month contracts in Barrow-in-Furness or Govan. The role focuses on structural welding to high-quality standards, reading engineering drawings and WPS, and performing FCAW, MAG/MIG, TIG or SAW.

Applicants should have time-served training, strong welding experience, and relevant certifications. You will work to tight tolerances within a skilled production team while ensuring SHE and quality compliance.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent mandatory.

We are looking for experienced Welders to join major defence engineering projects in Barrow or Govan.

The Role

• Structural steel welding and fabrication to high-quality standards
• Working from engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• FCAW, MAG/MIG, TIG and/or Submerged Arc Welding
• Working with tight tolerances and technical specifications
• Carrying out fitting, alignment, grinding, cleaning and finishing
• Inspecting and checking your own work
• Working safely within a skilled production team

Requirements

• Time-served Engineering Modern Apprenticeship or equivalent
• Strong industrial structural welding experience
• Experience working to WPS and high-quality standards
• Relevant welding qualifications/certifications
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
