Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd in Barrow-in-Furness or Govan is seeking an experienced Welder to join major defence engineering projects on a 12-month contract. You will perform structural welding to high standards, reading drawings and WPS, and using FCAW, MAG/MIG, TIG or SAW processes.

You will work with a skilled production team, maintaining tight tolerances, inspecting your own work, and upholding SHE and quality requirements throughout the project.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
• Strong industrial structural welding experience
• Experience reading and interpreting WPS and high-quality standards
• Relevant welding qualifications/certifications
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong understanding of SHE and quality requirements

Responsibilities

• Structural steel welding and fabrication to high-quality standards
• Working from engineering drawings and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
• FCAW, MAG/MIG, TIG and/or Submerged Arc Welding
• Working with tight tolerances and technical specifications
• Carrying out fitting, alignment, grinding, cleaning and finishing
• Inspecting and checking your own work
• Working safely within a skilled production team
